About the department*: Department of General Surgery of Dr RMLIMS, Lucknow is all set to bear the responsibility of the newly starting MBBS program with young and enthusiastic faculty members. We are sure that the Department of Surgery will set milestone in the history of this institute by shear devotion, diligence and dedication towards providing health care services as well as the academic training to the students.

1. The department organised a national conference, SURGILAPCON 2019 on 7th & 8th December 2019 which was a unique event where residents were given a chance to be up on the stage as a faculty and common ward procedures were discussed. Residents from about 37 medical colleges from all across the country took active participation in the event. The programme also included master technique videos from stalwarts who came from various reputed institutes of the country and abroad. The president elect of ASI attended the event and promised to take this initiative of the department to further heights and organise conferences on the same pattern throughout the country.
2. A departmental CME was conducted by the department of General Surgery, Dr RMLIMS on 4th September, 2019 on the topic of ‘Biostatistics’. Dr Prabhakar Mishra from the department of Biostatistics & Health Informatics, SGPGIMS, Lucknow delivered a lecture on ‘Selection of Biostatistical Methods in Data Analysis’ which was attended by all the faculty members, senior residents and non pg junior residents. It was a very interactive and informative discussion. We plan to continue similar activities to update our knowledge in future also.
3. The department is organising a CME on wound healing in mid of February 2020.
